Making a basic long t-shirt/mini dress

I started this blog to try and help others create their own clothing, as it can be expensive buying all the time. I didn't explain it easy enough to start with, as when I was looking for help as a beginer I was going around in circles looking at the same info and not understanding it fully untill I was making clothes through trial and error.
Well for those, who are not sure where to start, I will try my best to explain how to make a long T-shirt or a very short mini dress.
I am using Imprudence viewer, but I will explain it to you in SL viewer2. That way its a basis to get a rough idea.

Ok we need to upload a Favourite Texture (picture, pattern) you can achieve different effects by using your favourite paint programe.

To upload on veiwer2 go to build tab at top using drop menu click upload image-(L$10). Browse for your texture from your folders on hard drive,

click then save when opened in veiwer 2 click upload and it will be saved to your inventory (suitcase icon). look for the texture that you have just saved, usually find in texture folder.(mine was called ugly mug01), *giggles.

Now that you have your texture lets make the top, t-shirt, jacket, waistcoat, ect ect.
Go to My Appearance (t-shirt logo), at very bottom go to the cog symbol with arrow from there, there is a drop menu, lets just pick new jacket as length is handy, especially if its mens t-shirts..lol I know they are not keen on crop tops *giggles.

Ok, now where it says new jacket in grey box at the top of editing window, oh by now your avatar will be standing like a scarecrow with arms out, thats good and you will see a white jacket on the clothes you already have on, thats ok, thats what we want. Make new name for jacket in that grey box so you can find with ease later.

Find your texture in your texture folder, open, so its on screen, click and drag the texture to the upper texture white box. cool now you have the top half of the jacket!, click and drag the same texture ( you can experiment with different textures) to the lower texture.

Yipee now you have a new jacket!! From the settings underneath for how it looks on your avatar, play around with length of arms, collar, how short or long ect ect.

Now the same principles of those instructions above is exactly the same as any new peice of clothing you will make, the rest goes into discovering how to manipulate texture and templates to any design you would like.

If you dont have the time or the patients to make your own templates there are plenty of pre-made ones in stores inworld which give you the rights to sell that design as your own aslong as you have made the clothing from scratch and not just copied.

Have fun! hope this helped a little, but again its finding out through trial and error and being creative. Later on you can add prim parts to your clothing which goes into the building side., e.g belts, hats, shoes, ribbons, earings, necklaces ,ties', skirts, the list goes on.

Below we go onto making and producing templates from scratch, its head scratching but  its about getting used to the photoshop, gimp, paint.net programes along with templates.
